When it comes to a power cut, research shows that eight out of 10 people don’t know who contact.
Many wrongly turn to the company they buy their electricity from instead of getting in touch with their local electricity distribution network operator .
With winter fast approaching, Northern Powergrid has launched it’s Don’t Be Left in the Dark campaign to help ensure people in Hartlepool know who to contact.
Siobhan Barton, head of stakeholder and customer engagement, said: “Significant investment in our network means that a power cut isn’t a regular occurrence, which is good news. But it also means that if it does happen many people don’t know, or have simply forgotten, who to turn to.
“We want customers to know that we are the people that will get their power back on and are there for them day or night, whatever the weather.
“We’re saying “Don’t be left in the dark’, Northern Powergrid can keep you informed about what’s happening and offer advice to help you manage until your power is restored. With our online power cut reporting service and 24/7 customer service on Facebook and Twitter, you can get information on your mobile, as well as through our local contact centre.”
