A CHRISTMAS appeal for 160 sick or dying children is being held by a town beautician.
Samantha Lewis, from Silhouette Beauty Room, in York Road, Hartlepool, is aiming to provide Christmas presents to each younster using the services of Granville Lodge, in Hartlepool, and Zoe’s Place hospice, in Middlesbrough.
The firm has already managed to collect 65 gifts but now needs the community to rally round with another 95 gifts so that every child has one to open.
Samantha Lewis, from Silhouette, said: “I run a small local shop in Hartlepool and we are asking local companies to help us with our Christmas Appeal.
“Two years ago when I co-owned a company called My Wedding Belle, in Greatham, we raised over £600 for the Community Centre Roof Fund.
“This year we are aiming to help over 160 children by asking for help with collection of Christmas presents.
“We so far have donations from a few locals and a bigger company that specialises in sensory toys.
“The gifts will all go to Granville Lodge in Hartlepool, and Zoe’s Place, in Middlesbrough. Both places desperately need these presents.
“We already have 65 presents, and need 160.”
He added: “What I am asking for is just one gift that can make a child smile on Christmas Day.
“We will be visiting these units and handing presents to age appropriate children leading up to Christmas our last collection date is December 20 to ensure that everything is collected.”
Zoes Place specialises in looking after children up to five-years-old who are in palliative care or due to illnesses and life-threatening diseases.
Granville Lodge cares for four to 18-year-olds with servere disabilities and provides respite for parents, who would struggle to manage without the services provided.
