Car is set on fire

FIREFIGHTERS were called to an early-morning car blaze.

Fire chiefs are treating the fire, which involved a Vauxhall Corsa which was parked outside its female owner’s house in Easington Road, Hartlepool, as suspicious.

A crew from Stranton Fire Station spent 15 minutes dousing the flames during the incident, which happened around 5.45am on Saturday and caused smoke damage to the vehicle.

A crew from the station was also sent to a rubbish fire in the men’s toilets at Ward Jackson Park around 7.20pm on Saturday.

A small amount of smoke damage was caused and firefighters spent about 15 minutes at the scene.
