TWO car-mad boys were in heaven when they won a ride in a Ferrari sports car.
Brothers Benjamin and Oliver Kime were taken on a spin around Hartlepool in the red supercar after their grandmother Julie Hodgson won the ride.
The shop worker won the prize after she took her Fiat Punto to Hartlepool garage RLS MOT Centre and was entered into a prize draw.
Business and Ferrari owner Ray Smith came up with the idea to boost trade.
Julie was the draw’s first winner, but she turned down the ride and generously donated the prize to grandsons Benjamin, seven, and four-year-old Oliver.
The brothers, who attend West View Primary School, had a whale of a time as they enjoyed a 15-minute ride around town on Saturday.
Julie, 49, of the Rift House area of Hartlepool, said: “They absolutely loved it. They play car games a lot on the computer.
“They are car mad so they loved going in it. When I took my car to the garage Ray said he had entered me in the draw and asked me what I would do if I had won.
“I said I had two grandchildren and when I won he said he would give them a ride each, which was good of him.”
Ray took the boys on a tour of the town, turning heads as they went.
He said: “They really loved it and were over the moon with it all.
“I took them for a 15-minute ride each around the town centre and back to Ward Jackson Park again.
“The competition is starting to work with people asking about it when they come in, so word is starting to get around.”
