THE delighted organiser of a car rally has praised motor enthusiasts for supporting his planned display this weekend.

Jacksons Landing in Hartlepool will be the setting for a rally of vintage vehicles this Sunday, from 10am to 4pm.

And after an appeal for people to support the event, issued through the Hartlepool Mail, organiser Ken Rigg, 67, is confident the rally will be a success.

“It’s all systems go,” said Ken who, with his friend Alf Sterling, stepped in to run the event when a previous version ran into problems.

Ken said: “We have had a response from many parts of the North East. We have had enthusiasts from Marske and Darlington.

“We don’t know as yet how many vintage car people will turn up but if we get 50, we will be really happy.”

Organisers would still love to hear from more people willing to take part in the rally which is free to attend.

Ken urged anyone who would like to bring a vintage car to contact him on (01429) 870988.
