Care home back on the market

A FORMER care home branded an “eyesore” by a councillor is to be monitored by community officials after the sale of the building fell through.

Councillor Rob Crute, who represents Blackhall on Durham County Council, is calling for the village’s former Glendale House care home to be cleaned up and for the building’s future to be clarified.

He said he was told by Durham County Council that a sale of the building, which is based in the Blackhall’s Rose Avenue, was imminent.

But the Labour representative said this week: “I have just heard from the estates office at County Hall that Glendale House is to be placed back on the market this week due to the proposed sale falling through.”

A council spokeswoman said: “We can confirm that we are looking to market the site again.”
