A RESPECTED care home kitchen worker who has helped cook for elderly residents for almost two decades has retired.

Mum-of-two and grandmother-of-one Kathleen Donaldson - who lives on the Central Estate, in Hartlepool, has been a kitchen assistant at Admiral Court Care Home, in the town’s Cleveland Road, for 19 years.

And to celebrate the 65-year-old’s retirement, her fellow workers held a surprise party at the home.

Jackie Taylor, activities co-ordinator at Admiral Court, said Kathleen, her colleagues and the residents had a great time wishing her all the best for the future with cups of tea, a buffet and presents.

She said: “We had a surprise party for Kathleen with all the residents and all the staff here. We put a buffet on and had a few drinks and gave Kathleen her presents.

“Kathleen has been an absolute delight to work with. She’s a very caring person and a very quiet person, however, if we have a party she’s always up dancing.

“She will be really missed by everyone here, the staff and the residents. We all wish her all the best for her retirement and hope she has a really good one.”
