Field View will be serving lunch boxes packed with British picnic favourites to all guests, hosting live entertainment and serving refreshments and cakes from 2pm to 4pm.

Both facilities have various entertainment and activities planned.

The aim is to enrich the lives of residents, build links with the local community and offer a chance for local people to mingle with residents and staff.

The open day coincides with The Eden Project’s The Big Lunch neighbourhood get-together, which aims to get as many people as possible across the UK have lunch with their neighbours annually in a simple act of community, friendship and fun.

Field View care manager Michelle Howarth said: “Field View maintains strong relationships with our local community and we feel it is really important to create these bonds to allow our residents to retain their independence and role in the community.

“The message of Care Home Open Day is a really important one so we wanted to take part as support.”

Maxine Lee, care manager at Yohden, added: “We welcome everyone to come along, not just those who are considering care in the near future.”

“The event is about bringing people into the home, having some fun with staff and residents and find out what life here is really like.”

Both homes are situated on Hesleden Road in Blackhall Colliery, TS27 4LH.
