A SCHOOLGIRL’S efforts to help cancer victims have captured the hearts of the people of Hartlepool.

Earlier this week, we told how nine-year-old Isabel Small put together a day of fundraising to support the Little Princess Trust. Ever since, the caring youngster has been inundated with pledges of support.

Isabel is planning a charity day at Stranton Primary School, in Southburn Terrace, where she is a pupil. The funday runs from 10am to 12pm on Sunday, June 22 with a Teddy Bear’s picnic and Isabel having a sponsored hair cut.

Her hair will go to the The Little Princess Trust which provides wigs to children that have sadly lost their own hair through cancer treatment.

Within hours of the Mail first revealing Isabel’s plans, her proud mum Lindsey, 30, was flooded with people promising to help her daughter.

She said: “There are 62 confirmed guests and Isabel has raised £500 so far just from her hair cut.”

Isabel was spurred into action because she had been close to Hartlepool youngster Daniel Sullivan who died in 2012 aged seven after a battle with an aggressive form of leukaemia.

Admission to the fun day is £2 per child which includes food and a drink.

There will also be a raffle, and a tombola. Numerous stalls are planned including some promoting hampers, cakes, sweets, and bath bombs.

The attractions will also include a bouncy castle, face painting, air brush tattooing and candy floss machine. The fantastic prizes in the raffle include perfume, a sweet tree, Teddy bear, a one-hour singing lesson, and child’s bike.

Proceeds, including the admission fee, will go towards cancer research. Money raised from the tombola will go to the Freeman Hospital teenage cancer section in Newcastle, and Isabel’s hair will help children with cancer.

Lindsey, who is married to Jason Small, 29, who works at Nissan. She also has another daughter Gracie, aged three. She said that the campaign to get even more support was continuing with leaflets being handed out and posted through doors.
