A new £2million charity fund has been launched - thanks to support from players of People’s Postcode Lottery.
Postcode Local Trust, a grant-giving charity funded entirely by players of People’s Postcode Lottery has been created to support local community based, grassroots projects with an environmental focus across Great Britain.
Postcode Local Trust will open for applications on January5 and aims to support projects which benefit wildlife, enhance biodiversity, repair or create new green habitats utilising the skills and enthusiasm of local, grassroots organisations.
As a charity lottery, as well as having the chance to win cash prizes, players have raised more than £95million for charities and good causes to date as 27.5% of every £2 ticket supports charities across Great Britain and internationally.
The lottery, along with sister lotteries in Sweden and Holland, are the world’s biggest fundraising private charity donor.
With two funding rounds in 2016, charities and community groups are able to apply for funding ranging from £500 - £20,000 to deliver projects that positively impact their local, natural environment.
Rebecca Whitley, Trust Manager of Postcode Local Trust said “The first funding round of Postcode Local Trust will be open to charities and good causes across Great Britain and will allow hundreds more local, community projects to be supported by players of People’s Postcode Lottery each year.
“We know there are many exciting grassroots initiatives out there looking for support, and our straightforward application process will be welcome news for fundraisers.”
