A HARTLEPOOL business is challenging people to enter a competition to help name a new fleet of eight tankers.
The town’s F Peart & Co, one of the main distributors of heating oils and fuels across the North-East, is running the contest which is open to schools and the community.
People in the community are being asked to name one tanker and schools will have the opportunity to name the remaining seven.
The eight winning names will then be printed onto the tankers permanently.
Business manager Laura Jackson said: “F Peart & Co is a company which understands the importance of helping the local community and giving something back.
“In 2011 we ran a bursary scheme which provided £5,000 in donations to local causes and in 2012 we want to continue working with the community, which is why we are now launching the Name the Tanker competition and providing local people with the chance to win some great prizes.”
Prizes are also up for grabs with an Xbox Kinect 360 going to the public winner and a new laptop for the school that comes up with the best name.
Six runner-up schools will each receive a £50 book token.
The closing date for entries is Tuesday, February 28, and winners will be announced in March.
