TALENTED young musicians and performers will have their hard work recognised as a charity gets set for its own awards night.
Special celebrity messages, live performances and more than 20 awards will all feature at the Red Dreams Music Awards 2012.
The event isn’t taking place until December but preparations are already well underway and local companies are now being urged to play their part by sponsoring an award.
Talented performers who have all played their part in an action-packed year for Red Dreams will be vying for awards such as best band, best actor, rising star, best drummer and two hall of fame awards for an individual performer and a band.
Dawn McManus, 42, who set up the charity after the tragic death of her 16-year-old son Kyle in 2007, said: “As it was such a phenomonal success last year, we decided to organise the Red Dreams Music Awards once again, our very own Mini Brits.
“We will have some special messages from celebrities on the night including Frank Turner, Electric Six, Bloc Part and others.
“It promises to be another fantastic night.”
The event will be held on Friday, December 21 at the Corporation Club, in Hartlepool’s Whitby Street.
Dawn, who lives in the Owton Manor area of Hartlepool with husband Ian, 42, added: “Over the last year we have seen the quality and confidence grow of every young person involved with Red Dreams.
“We have seen solo artists and bands record and release EP’s, we have stayed awake for our 52 hour wake-a-thon, young people have filmed and recorded over 70 songs for our live and loud sessions and had more than 6,000 people attend our annual music festival.
“They are just some of the achievements of the young people who will be attending the awards.”
Last year’s event saw a number of companies sponsor awards and representatives attended on the night.
Dawn is now hoping to receive similar support this time around.
She added: “We were extremely humbled by the amount of local businesses that got involved and supported the young talent we have in Hartlepool and the North East last year.
“Represenatives from our sponsor companies came to the evening event and actually presented awards which was fantastic. It showed sponsors what we do and where their money goes.
“We would be honoured if companies can get involved again this year and be a part of what is sure to be one of the most entertaining awards events in the North East, and recognises the amazing talent of young people in Hartlepool and the surrounding areas.”
