A TOWN choir will be in good voice when it stages a concert to support a cancer charity.
Hartlepool Male Voice Choir will hold a concert for the town’s Pansies Breast Cancer Support Group.
The group, which meet weekly at The Grand Hotel, in Swainson Street, Hartlepool, helps support women who have battled or been diagnosed with breast cancer by helping out with family transport costs and buying things like wigs.
The choir, fresh from performing with Russell Watson, will stage the concert at St Joseph’s Church, in St Paul’s Road, Hartlepool, on Friday, July 20.
Charity members said they are looking forward to the concert and it is a huge boost after they performed a successful show with the world-renowned tenor.
Isobel Wilson, of Pansies, said: “We are absolutely delighted they are singing for us after performing with Russell Watson.
“Hopefully it will raise some cash for people who have just been diagnosed with breast cancer.”
Around 900 people packed into the Borough Hall, on the Headland, for Russell Watson’s concert with the choir.
Afterwards the singer hailed the evening’s show as one of his best nights for a long time and described the audience’s reaction as “magic”.
They had just hours to rehearse with the singer before the curtain went up after he arrived in Hartlepool on Saturday afternoon.
Tickets for the concert, priced £4, are available on the door or from Isobel on (01429) 423213 and 07791659438, or Ann Dixon on (01429) 234977.
