Festive fashion statements were out in force in Hartlepool when town groups got into the fundraising spirit.
The Hartlepool Special Needs Support Group has held its second Christmas Jumper Day and it led to a splash of colour at shops, businesses and schools.
Among those taking part were R n Ls Food Parlour, Northgate Managed Services, English Martyrs School and Sixth Form College, West Park Primary School, Quorum Development Ltd, and HSNSG Clubs.
Officials were hoping to top the £650 they raised at the event last year and passed that by raising more than £1,000 so far, with Clavering and West Park schools participating this Friday.
Jamie Allison, from the HSNSG Core Fundraising Group, said the aim was “to make Hartlepool better with a sweater by wearing a Christmas jumper for the day and donating to Hartlepool Special Needs Support Group.”
People were being asked to don their best Christmas jumper and make a donation to the support group.

But that’s not the only event in the group’s Christmas calendar.
Others include a parents and carers Christmas lunch on Friday, December 18.
Jamie added: “Myself and the rest of HSNSG Core Fundraising Group are very grateful for everyone who has been involved this year and look forward to an even bigger Christmas Jumper day next year.
“We believe that the Christmas cheer that was visible on the day was amazing and are happy that we could spread some joy at this time of year.
“In addition to this we raised much needed funding for HSNSG with and the money will go towards the running of HSNSG with every single penny staying local to Hartlepool.
“We feel it is important in the current climate of cutback and recession that we maintain our high-quality service to the community of Hartlepool.”
HSNSG will also be holding its Christmas Party on Monday, December 21, from noon to 3pm at the Catholic Club, Marlowe Road. It will include a buffet lunch, disco and a potential visit from Santa Claus.
The charity will also be hosting a family screening of Polar Express at the Town Hall Theatre.
“It will be held on Tuesday,December 22, from 1pm and tickets are £5. Tickets to visit Santa’s Groto are an extra £1.
