A CHURCH service to celebrate the civic and community life of Hartlepool is being held this weekend.
People of all ages are invited to the annual Civic and Community Celebration Service which will take place this year on Sunday, February 8, in St Hilda’s Church, on the Headland, Hartlepool, at 6.30pm.
The service will be led by the Reverend Chris Collison, Civic Chaplain and Priest-in-Charge of St Hilda’s Church.
It will be attended by representatives of Hartlepool Borough Council, the local community and other North-East local authorities.
Taking part in the service this year will be representatives of the Ceremonial Mayor of Hartlepool Councillor Stephen Akers-Belcher’s chosen charities: the Great North Air Ambulance, the RNLI, Hartlepool Hospice and Miles For Men and there will be a collection for these charities during the service.
Councillor Akers-Belcher said: “So many people in Hartlepool are doing good things to help their local community, from volunteering and fundraising to caring for a family member or simply being a good neighbour.
“This special service is an opportunity for people of all ages to come together to celebrate the contribution which the community and the Council make to the life of the town and also to mark my current year in office as Hartlepool’s Ceremonial Mayor.”
