Officers from Peterlee beat unit regularly visit schools to talk to youngsters.

Pc Ralph Thompson, from the unit, said: “The youngsters from Shotton Colliery told us they were concerned about the environment and wanted to be involved in making it better. As a result, we joined our partner agencies and organised the tree-planting and litter-picking event.”
