A CHARITY shop is urging Hartlepool people to blitz their wardrobes and donate unwanted party gear to a worthy cause.
The Christmas party season is fast approaching and Barnardo’s North East is asking Hartlepool ladies to do a pre-Christmas clearout of unwanted ‘glitz’.
The charity’s shop at Carlton Corner in York Road, Hartlepool, is looking for donations and Tracey Brooks, Barnardo’s regional manager for retail in the North East, said: “In the weeks leading up to Christmas, we’d like people to donate party wear to our shops, anything that glitters or shines is perfect, or little black dresses that no longer fit, shoes that you just can’t walk in or something that you bought in the sales and never found the occasion to wear.
“Public appetite for party wear is as high as ever and so we need a constant supply of stock. This year we are particularly keen for people to donate sequinned or ‘bejewelled’ items to our shops, as there is a real demand that we are finding hard to meet.
“Donating to Barnardo’s is a great way to recycle your unwanted clothes and accessories, perhaps pick up an unexpected bargain and support some of the region’s most disadvantaged children, helping to give them a better start in life.”.
The charity’s Hartlepool shop manager Catherine Braithwaite, said: “We are after Christmas night out dresses, little black numbers and anything with a bit of glamour for a seasonal party. Not necessarily ballgowns, more cocktail type dresses. We have very little in stock and know that our customers will start asking about party wear very soon.”
