Cleveland Police arrest man over murder
A 25-year-old suspect has been arrested in connection with the murder of a man in his own home.
Craig Barker, 47, also known as Craig Slater, of Cleatlam Close, Stockton, was assaulted at his home in the early hours of Sunday morning and died on Tuesday morning at Middlesbrough's James Cook University Hospital.
The assault took place the day before Mr Barker’s birthday.
Police said that Mr Barker’s injuries were consistent with a sharp-edged weapon.
During the incident, the family’s dog, Leon, was also attacked and killed.
A 25-year-old man was arrested in connection with Mr Barker's death on Wednesday night.
The male currently remains in custody.
