POLICE are hunting two suspects who wore a balaclava and a clown mask during a frightening crime spree.

The two thugs are wanted for stealing a moped and threatening two people soon afterwards in Peterlee.

The same suspects are believed to be responsible for threatening shop staff and an attack on a pizza delivery driver.

Detectives say they believe the incidents are related and have appealed for anyone with information to contact them.

The moped was stolen from outside the Black Bull pub in Old Shotton between 9pm and 11pm on Wednesday.

The thieves made threats towards two people afterwards in the town’s Keswick Road.

They are then thought to have gone into Boozebusters in York Road and threatened staff after being seen near McColls in Fulwell Road.

They also assaulted a pizza delivery driver in the Dunelm Walk and Wescott Nursing Home area, leaving him with minor injuries.

Detectives say the suspects are believed to have hidden their faces with a balaclava and a clown mask.

The moped has not yet been recovered.

Anyone with information should contact Detective Sergeant Steve Thubron, of Peterlee CID, on the non-emergency 101 number or Crimestoppers 0800 555111.
