Coffee and cakes at the Ladybirds fundraiser

The Ladybirds Macmillan coffee morning takes place on Saturday, September 10, from 10am to 12pm at Throston Grange Community Centre, in Glamorgan Grove.

Spokesman Ann Dixon said: “We have lots of stalls this year including Avon, jewellery, Body Shop, Younique, Sorella, cakes, bottle and tombola.”

Admission is £2 which includes tea or coffee. Ann added: “This year is particularly poignant for us as two of our ladies have both contracted cancer. Fortunately one has received the all clear and we are all hoping the other lady starts to feel better very soon.

“We have raised an amazing response from both companies and individuals for raffle and tombola prizes and hope that as many people as possible will come along to support this very worthy cause.”

The Ladybirds is a group of women who first got together in 2013 to enjoy trips out, coffee mornings, and fashion shows.

They have already raised more than £10,000 for Hartlepool & District Hospice and Macmillan.

One of their donations came from ticket sales at their Christmas party last year at West Hartlepool Rugby Club where they also held a raffle.

Other events have included a fashion show, in conjunction with Matalan, where money was raised from ticket sales, a raffle and tombola.
