AMATEUR photographers are being encouraged to submit their most stunning shots of the area for a hospice’s calendar competition.

Hartlepool & District Hospice is inviting snappers to enter their favourite photographs of the Hartlepool and East Durham.

The hospice is once again using Facebook as the focus of the competition and the 12 images with the most likes will make it into its 2016 calendar.

Hospice fundraiser Greg Hildreth said: “This is a great opportunity for people with a flair for photography to exhibit their work to a huge audience on Facebook and for the winners, in the 2016 calendar which is a regular purchase for many supporters of the hospice.

“The calendar is often sent far and wide and is a great way to show off some of the area’s local beauty spots to people further afield.”

The calendars, which will be available to buy towards the end of this year, have a circulation of around 5,000 and all of the pictures will feature as detachable postcards.

The hospice says the standard of entries so far has been very high but there is always room for more.

Entrants can submit three photographs which must be landscape shaped and high resolution.

To enter, go to the Hospice’s Facebook page and message your entries to the team.

The images will then be uploaded to a competition album to share with your friends.

You can also email your entries to or drop in a CD at the hospice reception in Wells Avenue, Hartlepool.

Voting closes on May 31 and full terms and conditions are on the hospice’s Facebook page.
