A COURT case against a champion boxer has been dropped.

Michael Thomas Hunter was to face trial at Hartlepool Magistrates’ Court accused of breaching a non-molestation order. A non-molestation is a court order to prevent someone from harassing, pestering, or interfering with someone.

Mr Hunter was made subject of the order on November 5 last year by Hartlepool Family Court.

The 36-year-old, of Eskdale Road, Hartlepool, was charged with allegedly breaching the order by harassing or pestering a woman on December 20 last year – a charge which he denied.

The trial was due to start yesterday, but after the complainant in the case failed to turn up to court, the case was dismissed.

Chairman of the bench Elizabeth Carroll said: “No evidence has been offered and I am invited to dismiss the case.

“The case is dismissed.”
