Cracking time at the garden centre

A GARDEN centre has a cracking line-up of events planned for this Easter weekend.

Plants ‘R’ Ross, in Easington Village, has planned a host of fun across the long weekend.

This Friday, from 10am-2pm, there will be a Grow Your Own Hanging Basket competition, with people asked to bring along their own basket and staff will help choose any 10 plants to use, plus compost and fertiliser.

They can build a wonderful arrangement which they will be given full instructions to take home and care for.

They will then be asked to return in June when nursery owner Ross Weightman will judge the baskets, with a prize for the winning entry.

On Saturday, the nursery will be transformed into an arts and crafts exhibition, featuring 20 stalls including wood-carving demonstrations by Coniscliffe Carving club.

Other stalls include card craft, handmade jewellery, home decor, textiles, knitwear and bath and body products.

North England Springer Spaniel Rescue will also be involved, and there will be face-painting, and craft beer-tasting in the Farm Shop.

Easter Monday will see the return of the centre’s free Easter Fun Day, from 10am-3pm, with an Easter egg hunt throughout the day.

There will be Easter arts and crafts, colouring competitions, face-painting, a funfair, side-stalls, craft stalls and children can take along their own decorated eggs for a paste egg competition.

The nursery’s Natalie Buck said: “Overall we have lots going on this Easter at Plants ‘R’ Ross and we hope everyone enjoys the events we have organised for the community.”
