A 999 call from a member of the public who spotted a hang glider going into waters off the Hartlepool coastline sparked a sea rescue.
A crew from Hartlepool coastguard and a crew from Hartlepool Lifeboat were sent out after the alarm was raised at 4.52pm, today.
A woman believed she saw a hang glider go into the sea at Blackhall rocks.
However, it turned out to be a false alarm with good intention.
The glider had not entered the water.
