Appeal after attack on woman

A YOUNG reveller needed hospital treatment after being assaulted by up to five women in the early hours of the morning.

The 24-year-old woman suffered injuries to her face after being attacked outside Rockies Bar and Busby’s Bar, in Church Street, Hartlepool.

Officers investigating the case have now launched an appeal for witnesses to come forward.

A spokeswoman for Cleveland Police said: “A 24-year-old woman suffered injuries after she was involved in an altercation with up to five females.

“Initially two females approached her and briefly spoke to her.

“One of these women then punched the victim, knocking her to the ground.

“Three further women became involved and began assaulting the victim.

“All five fled the area.”

The victim went to the University Hospital of Hartlepool, in Holdforth Road, for treatment for facial injuries, but was later released.

The incident happened between 1am and 2am on Sunday, June 19.
