Armed police sent to Hartlepool housing estate after crossbow fired at window


A CROSSBOW was fired at the window of a house sparking an armed police response.

Cleveland Police launched its helicopter and sent armed police officers and members of the dog section to Kesteven Road, in the Fens area of Hartlepool.

Officers had received reports of a kitchen window being damaged when a crossbow was fired at it around 9.35pm last night.

Police searched the area and the force’s specially-trained dogs searched a house on the same road which led to the arrest of a 20-year-old man who is still in custody at Hartlepool Police Station.

A crossbow was also discovered near to the address.

A spokeswoman for Cleveland Police said: “Police were called to a house on Kesteven Road in Hartlepool at around 9.35pm last night after reports that a kitchen window was damaged by a crossbow.

“Officers began an immediate search for those responsible, which involved the police helicopter and armed response police.

“A house on Kesteven Road was searched by dog units and a crossbow was recovered near to this address.

A 20-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of criminal damage and is currently in police custody. Enquiries are ongoing.
