Bail for man arrested after police chase through Hartlepool

A SUSPECT arrested after a police chase through town centre streets has been bailed.

The Cleveland Police helicopter was scrambled after a driver failed to stop his car when he was asked to pull over by police in Burbank Street, in Hartlepool, around 8.20pm on Tuesday.

Officers began an initial investigation and at around 10.15pm that night a grey Volkswagen Polo was spotted in Caledonian Road and a chase began, as previously reported by the Mail.

The car was later abandoned near to Lancaster Court.

A 28-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of failure to stop a motor vehicle and was taken in for questioning by police.

A Cleveland Police spokeswoman confirmed today: “The man arrested for the driving offences has been released on bail.”
