TWO schoolboys who were arrested as part of a police investigation into the horrific killing of a Hartlepool family’s pet dog have been bailed.

Kenzy, a cross Lakeland terrier, escaped from the family home in Monach Road, Owton Manor, in the early hours of Sunday, June 15.

After searching for her dog for two days, owner Michelle Remmer was left devastated when she was told her beloved pet had been tortured, killed and then torched near to a nearby farm track.

Police and RSPCA officials launched an immediate investigation.

Two boys aged 16 and 12 were arrested on Monday afternoon and taken into custody to be quizzed over the incident.

A Cleveland Police spokeswoman has confirmed the pair have since been bailed pending further inquiries.
