A man appeared in court accused of burgling the home of a 76-year-old woman.
Mark Turner is alleged to have taken a television from the woman’s bedroom, Hartlepool Magistrates’ Court heard.
Prosecutor Philip Morley said the burglary is alleged to have taken place on July 19.
The television allegedly stolen was found ‘a few streets away’, the court heard. Mr Morley asked for the case to be sent to the crown court.
Turner, 45, of Miers Avenue, Hartlepool, appeared before the magistrates in custody.
David Smith, defending, said the burglary offence would be denied.
Mr Smith applied for bail.
The magistrates refused the application.
Turner was remanded in custody to appear before Teesside Crown Court for a preliminary hearing on August 5.
