This was the scene which greeted police when they raided a home on the Headland.

More than 50 cannabis plants were seized when officers searched a house in Heugh Chare.

Members of the Integrated Neighbourhood Team gained a search warrant under the Misuse of Drugs Act from Hartlepool Magistrates’ Court after information was passed on by a partner agency.

The mid-afternoon check led to the discovery of the Class B drug, which was being grown through a farm set up in a room.

Cleveland Police has said the plants will be destroyed and has warned those responsible could face lengthy jail terms for the production of cannabis.

Officers have said inquiries are ongoing to try and trace whoever is responsible, but no arrests have yet been made.

The raid happened on Tuesday.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Cleveland Police on 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
