Care home worker stole £180,000 from dead residents

AN auditor for a health care firm has pleaded guilty to stealing around £180,000 from dead residents.

Steven Mason, 36, abused his position with Four Seasons Healthcare to withdraw the huge sums of cash from the personal allowance accounts of deceased residents, Teesside Crown Court heard.

Mason, of Sea View, Easington, pleaded guilty to a single charge of fraud when he appeared at the court on Thursday.

He was granted bail and will be sentenced on September 5 after a psychiatric and pre-sentence reports have been prepared.
