Cleveland Police are warning motorists not to leave their cars de-frosting following a spate of thefts.
The latest incident of a car being stolen while it was left with the engine running on the owner’s drive happened at around 7.45am this morning in Billingham.
Police said there was another similar incident yesterday morning in Billingham’s Wolviston Road at 9.50am when the frozen car was left running.
And, there were reports of the same crime happening twice elsewhere in the force area on Tuesday morning.
A spokesman for Cleveland Police said: “Please don’t leave vehicles unattended to de-ice. Opportunist thieves may take advantage.”
