Transport cops have released a picture of a woman they want to trace after an ipad was snatched from a waiting shelter of a railway station.

British Transport Police want to speak to the woman captured on CCTV after the ipad was stolen from Billingham railway station at about 4.25pm on Friday, April 24.

PC Ryan Griffiths, who is investigating the theft, said: “A 25-year-old man from Darlington was sat waiting to catch a train in a waiting shelter on the station.

“He removed his iPad from his bag while he sorted out some paperwork and put it on the seat beside him.

“When his train arrived the man boarded the service mistakenly leaving his iPad on the seat.

“After reviewing CCTV, a woman is seen picking up the iPad and putting it in her bag before boarding the 4.50pm service to Hartlepool.

Checks have been made at lost property offices in the area to see if the iPad has been handed in but to no avail.

PC Griffiths added “We would like to speak with the woman pictured as we believe she may have information which will assist with our enquiries into this incident.”
