THE police helicopter was scrambled to help in the search for a car that was stolen in a burglary in the early hours.

The helicopter had been hovering over the Fens area of Hartlepool on Monday morning.

Police say the chopper has been helping with inquiries into the alleged theft of a black Ford Focus.

The car is said to have been stolen in a “two-in-one” burglary, where a house is broken into and car keys taken, in Cameron Road, off Raby Road in the town in the early hours of Monday.

It is believed that the car may have been spotted in the Fens area and the helicopter is helping with inquiries.

Anyone with information about the theft of the car is urged to call police on 101.
