Delivery driver attacked after being stopped in Hartlepool road

A DELIVERY driver was attacked in the early hours after he was forced to stop his van because of two men in the road.

Police are now appealing for witnesses to the attack, which happened on York Road, at around 4.15am on Saturday, October 19.

One of the men approached the driver and began a conversation through the window of the vehicle.

After a short verbal altercation, the man tried to take the keys from vehicle and as the driver tried to stop him, he was punched to the face before the suspect ran off.

The driver suffered a small cut to his face in the attack.

The suspect is described as a white male, around 5ft 10in-tall, of slim build with short to mid-length brown hair and clean shaven.

He spoke with a local accent and was aged in his mid-30s. He was wearing a white polo T-shirt and dark jeans.
