Driver grabs motorist by throat during road rage attack

POLICE are investigating a road rage attack which saw a driver grab a motorcyclist by the throat.

The incident happened in Truro Drive, in the Fens area of Hartlepool.

A man driving a white Nissan Qashqai shouted at the 23-year-old biker, before jumping out of the car.

He then marched up to the motorcyclist and grabbed him by the throat.

A woman, who was a passenger in the Qashqai, managed to put a stop to the assault and pulled the suspect away.

The incident took place at around 6pm on Wednesday, October 1.

Today Cleveland Police are appealed for witnesses to the incident.

A police spokeswoman said: “The driver of a white Nissan Qashqai alighted his vehicle and assaulted the 23-year-old victim, who had been riding a motorcycle, grabbing him by the throat.

“The victim did not require any medical treatment.

“A female passenger from the Qashqai managed to pull the suspect away.”

She added: “It is believed that there were a number of vehicles passing at the time and that someone may have seen the incident take place or may know the man responsible.
