A POLICE campaign found 30 people travelling without a seatbelt – including a four-year-old child.
Cleveland Police’s Specialist Operations Unit carried out the campaign between March 9 and 15 across the Cleveland and Durham areas.
Inspector Ed Turner, from the Specialist Operations Unit, said: “While the majority of people do listen to our warnings, there is a hardcore of individuals that continue to ignore them and those people will now feel the force of the law.
“It is inconceivable that drivers would risk their own lives, let alone the lives of their passengers, especially children, travelling with them.”
Thirty people were caught travelling without a seatbelt - including a four-year-old child from Middlesbrough.
Failure to wear a seatbelt carries a fine of £100.
