Fault with police 101 non-emergency number fixed

NORTHUMBRIA, Cleveland and Durham police were among a number of forces who experienced problems with the 101 non-emergency number on Saturday morning.

Engineers frantically worked to resolved the issue that is said to have also affected Cambridgeshire, Wiltshire, Warwickshire, Devon and Cornwall, Cheshire, Staffordshire and Sussex.

People should now resume ringing the 101 number for non-emergency issues.

The emergency 999 number was not affected.
