Former Cleveland Police head of corporate communications charged with making indecent images

The man who led Cleveland Police’s corporate communications department has been charged with making indecent images of children.

Following an investigation by the force, 42-year-old John William Green – known as Will Green – has today, Monday, May 24, been charged with making indecent images of children.

He will appear at court on Friday, July 16, to face the allegations.

In a statement from Cleveland Police, it said Green is now a former police staff member.

On arrest he was suspended and has since resigned from his role of head of corporate communications.

It said the charges relate to alleged off-duty conduct.

Assistant Chief Constable Lisa Orchard said: “As soon as we were made aware of the allegations, we began a thorough investigation and the staff member was suspended from their role.

“As they have now been charged and criminal proceedings are active it would be inappropriate for me to comment any further in relation to the case at this stage.

“We would, however, ask that people avoid speculation which could in any way prejudice proceedings.”
