A MAN has been cleared of a dozen historic sex abuse allegations.

Brian Rennie, 56, went on trial at Teesside Crown Court after he was charged with 12 offences.

He was accused of nine indecent assaults and three serious sex assaults.

The allegations dated back to the 60s and 70s when Rennie, of Ainderby Walk, Hartlepool, would have been aged between 11 and his late teens.

But the prosecution offered no evidence after new facts came to light during the case.

Not guilty verdicts were returned by the jury on the direction of the judge.
