Hunt for mystery motorist after woman is taken to hospital following Hartlepool collision

A female pedestrian was taken to hospital with injuries following a failure-to-stop collision with a mystery motorist.

Cleveland Police are now appealing for the driver of a blue Vauxhall Vectra to come forward following the incident in Duke Street, Hartlepool, near its junction with Sheriff Street.

The 39-year-old woman was taken to hospital to Stockton’s University Hospital of North Tees for treatment following the incident.

The force said in a statement: “The incident occurred on Saturday, 22nd March, at 4.15pm when the Vauxhall vehicle collided with a female pedestrian.

“The 39-year-old woman suffered a broken hip, whiplash and bruising and was taken to North Tees University Hospital for treatment.

“Following the collision, the driver left the scene prior to police arrival and officers are appealing for the driver to come forward to assist with enquiries.

“Anyone who witnessed the collision or knows the identity of the driver is asked to contact Cleveland Police on 101 quoting 050116.
