A SEX attacker has been locked up for assaulting a woman.
Aaron Reed, 23, grabbed his victim by the throat before sexually assaulting her, Teesside Crown Court was told.
Prosecuting, Adrian Dent said: “She was finding it difficult to breathe, and he said ‘You like it rough’.
“She was pushed back and she was struggling and kicking out.
“He pushed his hand inside her shorts. He suddenly let go. She was very shaken and upset.
“She could not find her phone because he had walked off with it, presumably to stop her getting in touch with anybody.”
Reed was arrested two hours later at his home, and he claimed that he had sex with her on a previous occasion, which she denied.
Mr Dent read out her victim impact statement, which stated: “He has left me mentally and physically scarred.”
Rachel Hedworth, defending, said Reed is now working with a drink counsellor and is extremely remorseful.
She said he is now living in Bishop Auckland, and has been leading a law-abiding life while awaiting sentence.
Reed, formerly of Deerpool Close, Hartlepool, was jailed for 18 months.
He was also ordered to register as a sex offender for 10 years after he pleaded guilty to sexual assault and theft of the mobile phone.
