A MAN who was arrested after being Tasered by police in a Hartlepool street has been re-released on bail.

The 48-year-old man answered his bail at Hartlepool Police Station following an incident in Marlowe Road during which police deployed a Taser.

But officers have now re-bailed the man pending further inquiries until the end of July.

The man was arrested on suspicion of possession of an offensive weapon, threats to kill, dangerous driving and failing to stop.

The arrest came after police were called to an alleged incident of a man - possibly armed with knives - making threats to members of the public in the Graythorp area on the afternoon of Tuesday, June 17.

Officers say that after a “short pursuit” a car was stopped in Marlowe Road, in the Rift House area of Hartlepool, and a man was Tasered.
