Man arrested after vehicle doors tried in Hartlepool

A man has been arrested following reports of vehicle doors being tried in Hartlepool.

Cleveland Police have confirmed that a 41-year-old man is in police custody after being arrested on suspicion of vehicle interference, attempted theft from a vehicle and on suspicion of possession of a Class A drug.

The arrest comes following reports of vehicle interference in the Headland area of the town, where vehicle doors are said to have been tried in the early hours of Tuesday, December 3.

Police inquiries into the incident are ongoing.

In a post on Facebook a Cleveland Police spokesman said: “A man is currently in custody after police received reports of vehicle doors being tried in the Headland area of Hartlepool in the early hours of this morning.

“The 41 year old faces questioning on suspicion of vehicle interference, attempted theft from a vehicle and on suspicion of possession of a Class A drug.

“Inquiries are ongoing.”
