Man denies assault and possession of a letter opener deemed as a weapon in Hartlepool barbers
A Nigerian man denied assault and weapon charges over an incident in Hartlepool.
Temitayo Adesanya, 37, faces a trial next year at Teesside Crown Court.
He denied assaulting a man by beating on October 6.
He also denied having a bladed article, a letter opener, in The Golden Scissors in Victoria Road, on the same day.
Stephen Constantine, defending, said: “The issues are straight-forward self-defence and he denies possessing a bladed article.”
Adesanya, of Middleton Road, Hartlepool, had his bail extended until June 8.
