A MAN accused of killing a Hartlepool dad has made his first court appearance before a judge.
Paul Sutton, 29, is charged with manslaughter over the death of Mark Dixon, who died several days after he was assaulted in Victoria Road, Hartlepool, on October 5.
Sutton appeared at Teesside Crown Court before the region’s most senior judge, Simon Bourne-Arton QC, the Recorder of Middlesbrough, for a brief administrative hearing.
A provisional trial date was set for April 27 and the case will be mentioned again in court on March 6.
Sutton, of Fordham Road, Sunderland, was granted bail, which includes him being on an electronically tagged curfew between 10pm and 5.30am.
Mr Dixon, 32, who was married and had a five-year-old daughter, suffered serious head injuries and died on October 11 in James Cook University Hospital.
