Man taken to hospital after being hit with bike outside pizza shop

A MAN needed hospital treatment after a yob threw a bike at him.

The incident happened near Veno Pizza, in Powlett Road, Hartlepool, around 12.25am on Wednesday.

The man suffered a cut to his face and was taken to the University Hospital of North Tees for treatment.

The Cleveland Police helicopter was scrambled after officers on the ground lost sight of the alleged attacker.

A Cleveland Police spokeswoman said: “There was an assault at a pizza shop.

“A bike was thrown at the 30-year-old victim.

“The helicopter helped after the ground unit lost sight of the suspect.”
