THE brothers found guilty of murdering former Hartlepool boxer Mark Denton have been jailed for life.

Anthony Middleton, 21, and David Sowerby, 24, were both convicted of the killing at a New Year’s Eve House party in Hutton Avenue, Hartlepool, on New Year’s Eve.

Sowerby was sentenced to life in jail, with a minimum of 27 years. Middleton also received a life sentence and will serve a minimum of 23 years.

The jury returned their unanimous verdicts at 12.30pm on Tuesday after just an hour of deliberations.

There were cries of “yes” from Mark’s family in the packed public gallery as the verdicts were announced by the foreman.

Mark’s mum Ann wept and was comforted by her son Craig and husband Brian.
