Men arrested in connection with drive-by shooting are bailed

TWO men arrested in connection with a drive-by shooting that left a man in hospital have been bailed.

The 56-year-old, named locally as Keith Robinson, was standing in his garden when he was fired at numerous times from a number of vehicles.

Two men, aged 24 and 27 and from Wingate, arrested on suspicion of attempted murder following the incident, have now been bailed.

Police had said further arrests were expected, but no-one else has since been held.

The man remained in hospital on Wednesday morning – two days after vehicles pulled up into the quiet close of Brackendale Court, in Station Town near Wingate, and opened fire.

Police say the man was shot a number of times in the lower body as he was standing in the garden around 2.30pm on and the vehicles sped away from the scene.

Police have said that initial investigations lead them to believe that this was a planned and targeted attack.

Officers are continuing their probe and anyone with information regarding the shooting is urged to contact them on 101.
