POLICE have renewed their appeal to catch yobs responsible for a spate of thefts from vehicles.

Since August 1, there has been 20 reported thefts of number plates, badges and logos in the Lancaster Hill and Oakerside Drive areas of Peterlee.

Investigators are particularly wanting to speak to three youths in connection with a luxury car badge theft from a silver Mercedes in nearby Thorntree Gill after they were caught on camera.

Officers are again appealing for the three men who were photographed near the time of the offence, which took place between 3am and 3.30am on August 21, to come forward.

All three men are described as being in their late teens or early 20s.

One was of slim build with short, brown hair and was wearing a light grey hooded top with possibly a red logo on the front and light grey tracksuit bottoms with stripes.

The second was of medium build, had a dark brown Mohican-style haircut and was wearing a yellow and blue jacket with dark blue jeans and white trainers with a red logo.

The other was wearing a light grey hooded top with the hood up and dark grey tracksuit bottoms with a logo on the left thigh.

Anyone with information about the men or the thefts is asked to call independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111 or Durham Constabulary on 0345 6060365, quoting crime reference number EE1102702.
